CHAMPS

The South Dakota Healthcare Workforce Center understands the importance of partnering to address healthcare workforce issues and recognizes the overwhelming need for more healthcare workers in the future. In response to this need, the Healthcare Workforce Center has created CHAMPS (Community Healthcare-workforce Allies through Mentoring, Partnering, & Solutions).

One of the goals of the CHAMPS program is to have a contact person in each healthcare facility to assist the SD Healthcare Workforce Center in promoting health careers to students and community leaders. Currently there are CHAMPS partners in hospitals, rural health clinics, federally qualified healthcare centers, and long-term care facilities.

By utilizing tools and resources the Workforce Center has available, any person in your facility is able to promote health careers to students and community leaders. Tools such as the Health Career Toolkit, Health Occupations for Today & Tomorrow (HOTT), Sharing Health Occupations with students (SHOW Case), HOTT Futures, etc. provide step-by-step instructions on how schedule the appointment with your local school and then proceed with the presentation.

The benefit to your facility is substantial in that not only are you promoting health careers, but also promoting your healthcare facility to a potential employee.

If you are interested in becoming a CHAMPS partner or would like more information on this program, please contact Chrystal Wright or call 605.773.2706.
